ACE-inhibitors and hallucinations

The Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb received 15 reports of hallucinations associated with the use of ACE-inhibitors.
ACE-inhibitors involved were enalapril (5 reports), perindopril (5 reports), lisinopril (2 reports), captopril (1 report), ramipril (1 report) and trandolapril (1 report). The reports were received from January 1996 until June 2014. Nine patients recovered after withdrawal of the ACE-inhibitor and one patient experienced hallucinations again after restart of the ACE-inhibitor.
