Fatigue associated with biologics
Fatigue is a common symptom in patients with inflammatory immune diseases. Patients may also experience fatigue as an adverse drug reaction of biologics used for an immune-mediated inflammatory disease. This was reported by participants in the Dutch Biologic Monitor, a longitudinal observational cohort study using the Lareb Intensive Monitoring (LIM) system.
Many patients reporting fatigue as an adverse drug reaction described episodes of fatigue specifically during or shortly after injecting the biologic. This often recurred following subsequent injections. Sometimes it also occurred before injection.
Many factors contribute to fatigue in patients with chronic immune diseases. Evaluating the clinical pattern of fatigue may help in understanding the potential contribution of a biologic in patients experiencing fatigue.
